Default Hockey Pant Alterations

Hello,

I have an odd question. Has anyone ever had a hockey pant altered and if so how did it go? I am looking to have a pair of pants shortened (sorry, I am short and fat and in order to get a pant that fits my fat a$$ it comes longer than I need of course).

My main question about it is:

Where is the best place to remove the material from to shorten them (right below belt, above thigh pads, or at the bottom of the pant look to be the three places that it would be possible)
